InsureMe Lends a Hand

Denver, Colo., - InsureMe, an online insurance referral service, recently supported their employees in stepping out of the office and onto the former Lowry Air Force Base to help several hundred evacuees from Hurricane Katrina get back on their feet.

InsureMe committed the donation of 16 hours per day for employees to help dole out clothing, school supplies, household and personal items to evacuees who have been staying in dormitories at the Lowry community, some for over a month.

Volunteers worked diligently to get items to evacuees; when items ran out, lists were made to keep track of who needed what. The items were purchased soon after an order was made, allowing InsureMe volunteers to distribute them to evacuees the next day.

"It was heartwarming to see how many people wanted to reach out to those who had lost their homes," said Christine Ames, a business analyst at InsureMe, who volunteered her time last Wednesday.

And, as volunteers handed out goods, they also lent a listening ear. "It was humbling to hear their stories," one employee noted. "To hear how they lost everything…it was a very humbling experience."

InsureMe's Chief Operating Officer, Robin Paquette, is proud of InsureMe employees for offering their time and compassion to the evacuees of Katrina. "It warms my heart," Paquette said, "to be part of an organization like InsureMe that, through its people, consistently demonstrate its core values in and outside of the workplace."
